Kimono
– HOW TO PUT IT ON PROPERLY?
Preparation. A Kimono is usually worn on top of a Juban. A Juban is an underwear robe made of cotton or silk. It prevents the kimono from direct contact with your skin. A Juban also has a tough collar which helps to give a special shape and forms a silhouette around your neck.
Usual undergarments (top or t-shirt with deep neck and leggings) can be also used instead of Juban. In this case an additional tough collar is worn under the kimono.
1
Fold in the collar of the kimono near your neck and attach it to the underwear collar. Put on the kimono.
2
Stretch the sides of the kimono out in front of you and make sure that they are equal to each other.
3
Let the kimono slide down until the hem touches your ankles. The extra fabric should be left around your waist.
4
Wrap the right and then left side of the kimono around your hips tightly.
5
Pull the extra fabric from your waist up and tighten the first underbelt around your waist.
6
Then start wrapping the belt around from your front and end up tightening it in front as well.
7
Put your hands through the special holes on the sides/ under the sleeves of the kimono and pull the kimono gently down. This fold should be even.
8
Fasten the second underbelt tightly, slightly lower than your chest line. Put your hands under it and slightly to the sides to remove the wrinkles. After that you can put the obi belt on.
